The Central Bureau of Investigation issued a press release on September 26, 2025 related to the CBI Court sentencing the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT) and ITP, Jodhpur, to 4 Years Imprisonment in a Bribery Case.
The CBI Court, Jodhpur yesterday on September 26, 2025 convicted and sentenced the accused P.K. Sharma, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT), Jodhpur and Shailendra Bhandari, ITO, Jodhpur to 04 Years Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 110,000 each in a bribery case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed the immediate case against P.K. Sharma, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Jodhpur; Shailendra Bhandari, ITO, Jodhpur; and others on March 31, 2015.
The police (CBI) arranged a secret operation and caught a person named Prakash right in the act of accepting a Rs. 15 lakh bribe. The money was meant for two senior tax officers, Shailendra Bhandari and P.K. Sharma. Because the bribe money was found and their discussions confirmed the plan, all three people were arrested.

After the trial, the Hon’ble Court cleared Chandra Prakash Katta (a private person) of all charges. The Court found the CCIT and ITO Jodhpur guilty and gave them 4 years in jail, plus a fine of Rs. 110,000 each.
