CBI Files 19th Chargesheet in Builder Fraud Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge-sheet against M/s Earthcon Universal Infratech Pvt. Ltd. and its directors in an alleged homebuyer fraud case linked to the housing project “Casa Royale” at Plot No. GH-10, Sector-1, Greater Noida.
The charge-sheet was filed before the Special Judge (CBI), Rouse Avenue District Courts, New Delhi. The case relates to allegations that the builder and its directors cheated homebuyers and investors by making false promises and misleading representations.
According to the CBI investigation, the accused allegedly collected money from homebuyers and investors by using deceptive and illegal methods. The agency said its investigation found substantial evidence supporting the allegations.
The case has been filed under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) relating to criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal breach of trust.
The latest action is part of a larger CBI investigation into alleged fraud and diversion of funds in housing projects across the country. The agency is currently investigating 30 cases registered following directions from the Supreme Court. These cases involve various real estate companies as well as unidentified officials of financial institutions.
So far, the CBI has filed 18 charge-sheets in such cases against several real estate companies, their directors and officials of certain banks and financial institutions. The companies named in these cases include Rudra Buildwell Constructions, Dream Procon, Jaypee Infratech, AVJ Developers, CHD Developers, Sequel Buildcon, Logix City Developers, Manju J Homes, Shubhkamna Buildtech, Ninex Developers, Decent Buildwell, Rudra Buildwell Projects, Ithaca Estate, LGCL Urban Homes, Saha Infratech, MKHS Housing and Ozone Urbana Infra Developers.
The CBI said it remains committed to taking action in cases involving economic offences, corruption and public fraud, particularly where the interests of ordinary citizens and homebuyers have been affected.
