CBI Court Convicts and Sentences EPFO Officer to Rigorous Imprisonment for Four Years in Rs 10 Lakh Bribery Case:

CBI Court has convicted and sentenced the former Enforcement Officer in the EPFO Nashik to RI for four years in the Rs 10 lakh bribery case.
Accused Faces Penalty of Rs 1.50 Lakh

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has convicted and sentenced Devidas Shindikar, former Enforcement Officer in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Nashik, to Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for a period of four years; additionally, a penalty amounting to Rs 1.50 lakh has been imposed in connection with a Rs 10 lakh bribery case.
The aforementioned action was taken by the CBI Court, Pune, on August 31, 2026. An instant case was registered in the present matter following a complaint filed by the General Secretary of a School against the accused on April 17, 2014.
According to the investigation and the complaint filed, the accused had demanded a bribe from the complainant in return for reducing PF dues and penalty payable by the school. Originally, the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 8.50 lakh, and later the amount was increased to Rs 13 lakh. After deep negotiation, the accused officer agreed to accept Rs 10 lakh.
Being tired of the situation, the complainant approached the CBI. Thereafter, the CBI planned a trap to catch the accused red-handed while accepting the bribery amount of Rs 10 lakh. The trap worked, and the accused was successfully caught.
On July 21, 2014, the CBI filed a chargesheet against the accused upon completion of the probe in the present matter. The Honourable High Court convicted and sentenced the accused EPFO officer to four years' Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) after the trial.
