CBI Raids in Bribe case involving GST Intelligence Officials
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) searched three sites in Pune and Mumbai on Thursday in connection with a Rs.1 crore bribe demand made by employees from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) in Pune.
According to the CBI, the searches resulted in the recovery of incriminating documents and digital devices. They claimed that gold jewellery worth Rs.4 lakh were found from the property of former Deputy Director DGGI (GST intelligence) Vimlesh Kumar Singh.
On January 11, a case was filed against Singh, Rahul Kumar, who was then a senior intelligence officer, Sanjit, and other unnamed individuals. The accused public officials allegedly wanted a bribe of Rs. 1 crore from the complainant to end the lawsuit that DGGI, Pune had filed against the complainant's company. Further research is being done.
