CBIC Revises Customs Jurisdiction for Mumbai International Airport, Thane, Palghar and Raigad

The notification revises customs jurisdiction areas and airport coverage under the existing customs administrative framework.

CBIC Revises Customs Jurisdiction for Mumbai International Airport, Thane, Palghar and Raigad The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has amended its earlier Notification No. 21/2022-Customs (N.T.) dated 31 March 2022. The amendment has been issued under the powers granted by the Customs Act, 1962.
CBIC Circular on Implementation of MeitY exemption for Highly Specialized Equipment
First, under Serial Number 18 of the jurisdiction table, one of the listed jurisdiction areas (item ii) has been removed. Because of this deletion, the existing items numbered (iii) and (iv) will now be renumbered as (ii) and (iii) respectively. Second, under Serial Number 20, the jurisdiction area has been revised. The new jurisdiction will cover:
  • Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (International Terminal) in Mumbai,
  • All areas and airports falling under the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, and
  • All areas and airports located in the districts of Thane, Palghar, and Raigad in the State of Maharashtra.
CBIC Revises Customs Tariff Value Framework by Replacing Existing Tables
The notification will be effective on the date of its publication in the official gazette.
