CBSE Board Exam 2025: Check Out the New Guidelines on Allowed Items and Dress Code
CBSE Board Exam 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an official notification regarding the examination ethics for the students of classes 10 and 12 appearing for the board exam. The exams for classes 10 and 12 are scheduled to be started from 15 February 2025. The notice has been sent to the heads and leaders of schools.
The official notice mentions You would agree that the conduct of a fair examination is a must in the academic interest of the students. Accordingly, detailed “Unfair Means rules” have been framed by CBSE. It is desirable that before the start of the examination, all the students who would appear on board examinations be informed about the ethics of the examinations, their rules and the instructions issued by the CBSE.

CBSE Board Exam 2025: Actions Expected From Schools
As per the notice, the actions expected from the schools are mentioned below:
- Inform Students: Explain the importance of exam rules and the penalties for breaking them. Also, advise the students not to believe or share any rumours that could disturb the smooth conduct of the exam
- Guide Parents: Educate parents about exam rules and the penalties to help them guide their children better.
- Remind Students on Exam Day: Remind students to check that they are not carrying any banned items to the exam centre.
- Brief Examination Staff: Clearly explain the duties and responsibilities to all staff members assigned to examination duties.
CBSE Board Exam 2025: UFM Rules
The notice also mentions that a new rule has been added to the ‘Unfair Means’ (UFM) guidelines under the ‘Act of Unfair Means.’

The notice also included a list of barred and allowed items, along with the UFM (Unfair Means) rules for students, teachers, and parents.
CBSE Board Exam 2025: Permitted Items
The list of permitted items in the CBSE Board Exam 2025 is mentioned below:
- Admit card and school identity card (for regular students)
- Admit card and any government-issued photo identification proof (for private students)
- Stationery items: transparent pouch, geometry/pencil box, blue ink, ballpoint/gel pen, scale, writing pad, eraser
- Non-digital watch, transparent water bottle
- Money, Metro card, bus pass
CBSE Board Exam 2025: Restricted Items
Here is the list of restricted items in the CBSE Board Exam 2025:
- Stationery items: textual material (printed or written), bits of paper, calculators (except for students with learning disabilities like Dyscalculia, as per Circular No. CBSE/COORD/2020 dated 20.01.2020; these are provided by the exam centre), pen drives, log tables (provided by exam centres), electronic pens/scanners, etc.
- Communication devices: mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, pagers, health bands, smartwatches, cameras, etc.
- Other items: wallets, goggles, handbags, pouches, etc.
- Eatable items: opened or packed, except for diabetic students.
- Any other item that could be used for unfair means.
If any candidate is found using any of the above restricted/similar items, that will be treated as “unfair means” and will cause penalties as per the rules.
