CBSE New Examination Pattern: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) previously made some significant adjustments to the examination formats for Classes 11 and 12 in order to address the constantly expanding needs in the educational area and prepare students for modern times. The revisions to the CBSE examination patterns, which take effect in 2025, encompass a range of topics, from question format to marking scheme, with the goal of encouraging students’ critical thinking and holistic growth.

The significance of final scores from tests has decreased from 100% to 80%, which is one significant alteration. Project work, practical exams, and assessments will account for the remaining 20 % of the total marks.

These kinds of adjustments are made in an effort to establish an ecosystem that emphasizes skill-based application of classroom contents over memorization. In order to tackle new difficulties, this will help pupils enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

The amount of questions with constructed responses, which have both short and long answers, has decreased from 40% to 30%, while the percentage of competency-based questions, which include multiple choice questions (MCQs), case-based, and source-based questions, has increased from 40% to 50%.

Students may be significantly impacted by modifications to the CBSE test pattern. As competency-based questions become more prevalent, students will be able to apply practical skills to their everyday learning and improve their comprehension of the topics covered in class, which will help them conceptualize the material in greater depth. One’s study habits and perspective may need to shift in order to become proficient with application-based questions and adjust to the new evaluation methodologies.
