The Government of India appoints Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, an India Revenue Service officer (C&IT:88) as the new Chairman of CBIC after superannuation of Vivek Johri on July 31st.
Sanjay Kumar Agarwal has been a member (investigation) of the CBIC board since March 1, 2022.
Surjit Bhujabal, a senior IRS official, has also been appointed as a member of the CBIC's investigating team.
In November 2022, Bhujbal, a 1989 batch IRS official, was serving as Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), an apex intelligence organisation operating under the CBIC, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.
