Central GST official arrested by Kerala Vigilance while accepting Bribe In a first-of-its-kind event, a Central government employee assigned to the GST Wing was arrested on Monday by the Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in Kalpetta, Wayanad, while taking a bribe of Rupees one lakh from a government contractor. According to VACB authorities, Pravinder Singh, a GST officer, discovered a difference in the returns made by a government contractor after analysing his account for financial year 2018-19. "This official sought Rs.3 lakh from the contractor in order to close his file, but since he (the contractor) did not have that much, he came with Rs.1 lakh, and Singh was taken into custody when the money was being handed over in his vehicle," a VACB official said.
