Centre Notifies NaBFID's 10-Year Zero Coupon Bond

The Centre has issued a new 10-year Zero Coupon Bond to be issued by the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID). The notification was issued by the Ministry of Finance through the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on July 17, 2026.
A zero coupon bond does not pay regular interest to investors. Instead, it is issued at a discount, and investors will receive the full face value at maturity after 10 years.
As per the notification, NaBFID can issue the bond on or before March 31, 2028. The government has fixed the maturity value at Rs 20,000 crore and the issue price (discounted value) at around Rs 10,296.12 crore.
The notification also mentions that 20 lakh bonds will be issued. These bonds will be issued under the provisions of Income-tax Act, 2025 and Income-tax Rules, 2026. The notification shall come into force upon satisfaction of all conditions prescribed under the law by NaBFID.
