ChatGPT Vs Bard, How OpenAI’s ChatGPT Compares with its Competitor Google’s Bard

ChatGPT Vs Bard: As the field of artificial intelligence continues to evolve, there are numerous tools and platforms that have emerged to enable businesses and individuals to leverage the benefits of AI. Two of the most popular AI language models today are Bard and ChatGPT. While both these models are designed to generate human-like text and respond to natural language input, there are significant differences in their approach and capabilities. Because of ChatGPT’s growing popularity, tech behemoths like Google were forced to develop their own versions of conversational AI tools in order to stay competitive in the AI space. We now have the product, which Google calls Bard.

Google Bard, like ChatGPT, is a big language model, often known as a conversational AI or chatbot that has been taught to be useful and complete. It has been taught using a large quantity of text data and can communicate and generate human-like prose in response to a variety of cues and questions. ChatGPT and Bard are innovative approaches to connecting humans and bots that connect so naturally that it nearly feels like a normal conversation. Unlike previous approaches, these technologies have been integrated with AI algorithms to provide solutions to their customers in the same way that a standard messaging program would.

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot developed by OpenAI. ChatGPT was released for public use all over the world in November 2022. On the other hand, Bard is an AI chatbot developed by Google and was recently launched in March 2023 in 180 countries. Despite being AI-based models these two chatbots have many differences between them. Some notable differences between them are listed below:

Working Model

ChatGPT is built on top of OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 foundational large language models (LLMs) and has been fine-tuned (an approach to transfer learning) using both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques. On the other hand, Bard is based on the lighter version Language Model for Dialogue Applications, abbreviated as LaMDA.

Training Data Sets

When compared to ChatGPT, Google’s Bard has a much more recently updated knowledge base. OpenAI has only trained ChatGPT until 2022. However, both chatbots have a lot more innovations coming in the future, so we may witness even more intense competition between the two chatbots in the future.

User Interface

As both chatbots are designed for common use, it is very important to keep the user interface attractive. The user interface is one of the most important aspects which must be kept in mind while designing any platform. ChatGPT UI provides a lot of info but is more crowded than Bard. Google’s Bard appears to have a far more refined user interface. This, however, is entirely subjective and varies from person to person.

Voice Input

Bard can be interacted with using one’s voice. The voice input feature is not available in the ChatGPT yet. Voice interaction is convenient in some situations, especially in the case of complex questions and longer texts.

Internet Access

ChatGPT does not come with internet access by default. To use the internet, one may need to have web-browsing capability. Google Bard, on the other hand, comes with Internet connectivity, giving it an advantage over its OpenAI equivalent.

Response Type

While ChatGPT is effective at creating detailed text responses, it falls short of delivering graphics in response. This could also be because OpenAI has other qualities capable of producing graphics, such as Dall-E. Google Bard, on the other hand, can provide visuals in its written response.

Response Time

ChatGPT and Bard are trained in various language models. OpenAI’s ChatGPT can generate a wide range of text for a variety of purposes, whereas Bard is built on LaMDA and is intended to have more natural conversations. This is why, ChatGPT gives a better-detailed response in less time as compared to Bard.

Coding

With support for almost 20 programming languages, Bard outperforms ChatGPT in this category. C++, Python, Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, and other languages can be coded and understood by the Bard. ChatGPT has yet to master this skill. OpenAI’s Codex might be better suited for this purpose.

Conclusion

It is the age of chatbots powered by artificial intelligence. Microsoft, Google, and Meta have been competing to provide the most inventive and powerful AI chatbots. While this race was sparked by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which took the world by storm when it debuted in November 2022, it now appears that Google is going to any length to ensure that it offers the most powerful AI chatbot.
