Citizens can now access Digilocker services on MyGov Helpdesk on WhatsApp
Citizens will now be able to utilise the MyGov Helpdesk on WhatsApp to use the Digilocker service, as part of a major drive to make Government services more accessible, inclusive, transparent, and simple. This involves setting up and verifying their Digilocker account, as well as downloading papers such as their PAN card, driver’s licence, and vehicle registration certificate over WhatsApp.
The government has been focusing on “Ease of Living” through Digital India under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. In this context, the MyGov Helpdesk on WhatsApp is a significant step toward ensuring that residents have access to government services and governance.
Starting with Digilocker services, MyGov Helpdesk will now offer a spectrum of services for integrated citizen support and effective governance. Citizens will be able to access the following papers with ease and convenience from the comfort of their own homes thanks to the new service.
Users in India can use the chatbot by sending the message ‘Namaste or Hi or Digilocker’ to the WhatsApp number +91 9013151515.
Since its launch in March 2020, the MyGov Helpdesk (formerly known as MyGov Corona Helpdesk) on WhatsApp has been a vital tool in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, providing people with reliable sources of Covid-related information as well as critical services such as vaccine appointment bookings and certificate downloads. Over 80 million people have contacted the helpdesk thus far, downloading over 33 million immunisation certificates and scheduling millions of vaccination appointments across the country.
The MyGov chatbot on WhatsApp, with additional features like Digilocker, intends to create a comprehensive administrative support system for residents to access digitally inclusive resources and important services.
Offering Digilocker services through the MyGov Helpdesk is a logical next step in providing citizens with easier access to important services via WhatsApp’s simple and accessible platform. With nearly 100 million users currently enrolled on Digilocker and more than 5 billion+ documents released to date, the WhatsApp service will digitally empower millions by allowing them to access authentic papers and information directly from their phones. This is in accordance with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s goal of streamlining and improving public service delivery.
