Customs Authorities discover approximately 1 kg of cocaine at IGI Airport Customs authorities at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) deduced yet another case of cocaine smuggling by discovering a case of human ingestion of specially engineered cocaine pellets. One Ugandan traveler was detected by customs agents who arrived at Terminal-3, IGIA, a few days ago. The passenger's gait and body gestures were strange. Out of courtesy and generosity, the customs officer approached her and asked if she needed any assistance. The passenger, on the other hand, not only refused to accept any assistance, but also refused to engage in any discussion while continuing to exhibit anxious body gestures. The Customs agents kept an eye on the passenger because of her strange behavior. After a while, the passenger entered the green channel and was approaching the International Arrival Hall exit gate when she was eventually stopped by customs authorities. The passenger finally admitted to swallowing 91 narcotic tablets after being interrogated. The person was taken to the RML hospital because it was an impending emergency. The passenger's colon (ascending, descending), Sigmoid, and other organs were found to be loaded with oval pellets during X-ray scanning. An ejection technique was carried out under expert medical supervision, yielding a total recovery of 91 pellets in phases. The entire expulsion process took many days, and Customs personnel were on duty in the hospital 24 hours a day. The result of these 91 pellets was 992 grams of white powdery stuff. A test confirmed that the material contained cocaine. The passenger was then handed over to Customs by the hospital authorities. On December 29, 2021, the passenger was arrested under section 43(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985, for violating several provisions of the Act. The matter is currently being investigated further. This is the second large Cocaine finding at IGI Airport this month. On 09.12.21, 2,838 grams of cocaine were recovered from a Nigerian woman who had landed in New Delhi via Dubai. IGIA customs officials have had a lot of success in combating the drug smuggling threat. This is the 24th time this year that NDPS-covered pharmaceuticals have been seized at an airport. So far, 32 Pax (s) have been apprehended. Drug seizures are believed to be worth more than Rs. 845 crore.
