Cyber Media Plans Legal Challenge Against Rs 97.16 Lakh Tax Demand Issued by Tamil Nadu Tax Department:

Cyber Media (India) Ltd. has disclosed that it has received an assessment order from the Commercial Taxes Department in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, demanding a total of Rs. 97,16,380 in taxes for the financial year 2001-02.

According to the company’s filing with the stock exchanges, the order was issued by the State Tax Officer, T. Nagar Assessment Circle, Chennai, on September 29, 2026.

The demand includes Rs. 32,42,291 under the Central Sales Tax (Tamil Nadu) Rules, 1957. Another Rs. 64,74,089 has been demanded under various provisions of the Tamil Nadu General Sales Tax Act, 1959.

Cyber Media said the tax demand relates to the company’s tax assessment for the financial year 2001-02.

The company has said that it does not agree with the Rs 97,16,380 demand, stating that the order has been passed contrary to settled law. It plans to challenge the order through legal means, including the possibility of filing a writ petition, after consulting its financial and legal advisers.

Cyber Media also clarified that the tax order is not expected to have any impact on its operations or other activities.
