Delhi Govt Issues Instructions to Ensure Timely Disposal of GST and DVAT Refund Claims; Warns Against Delays
The Delhi Government has told its tax officers to speed up the processing of GST and DVAT refund claims and avoid unnecessary delays.
It said that even though clear instructions were issued earlier in May and July 2022, many taxpayers are still facing delays, and some cases are even reaching courts. This shows that the rules are not being followed properly.
The government has reminded all officers that refund applications must be checked and completed within the fixed legal timelines and as per the guidelines already provided.
Senior officers, including Zonal Incharges and Ward Officers, have been asked to personally monitor pending refund cases in their areas and make sure work is done on time.
It also warned that any delay or failure to follow the process will be taken seriously, and strict action may be taken against responsible officers.
Lastly, the department has asked that these instructions be shared with all concerned staff so that everyone follows them properly.
