Dish TV’s Rs. 56.47 Crore Tax Relief Challenged as Revenue Department Moves Supreme Court
Dish TV India Limited has informed that the Additional Director General (Adjudication), Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (‘ADG (Adj.) DRI’), Delhi has filed an Civil Appeal Petition before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India against the order passed in favour of the Company by the Hon’ble Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (‘CESTAT’), Delhi. The Company has been informed of filing of the said Appeal today i.e. March 18, 2026.
This is with reference to the Company’s intimations dated August 21, 2023 and October 6, 2025, wherein it was disclosed that the ADG (Adj.), DRI, Delhi, had, vide order dated April 28, 2020 (“Order”), confirmed a demand for differential duty amounting to Rs. 56.47 crore, along with applicable interest and an equivalent penalty.
Subsequently, the Company filed an appeal before the Hon’ble CESTAT, Delhi, challenging the said Order. The Hon’ble CESTAT, by its order dated September 23, 2025, allowed the Company’s appeal and set aside the impugned Order.
Further, the Company has been informed today, i.e., March 18, 2026, that the ADG (Adj.), DRI, Delhi, has filed a Civil Appeal Petition before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India against the aforesaid order passed by the CESTAT in favour of the Company.
