DGGI Uncovers Rs 63 Crore GST Fraud in Delhi; Company Director Arrested
The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) in Ahmedabad has discovered a Rs 63 crore GST fraud involving a company based in Delhi. The company’s director has been arrested for allegedly running the scam.
According to officials, the company created fake invoices without actually selling any goods or services. These fake bills were used to wrongly claim Input Tax Credit (ITC), which caused a big loss to the government.
Investigators found that the fraud was carried out using multiple fake companies. These companies existed only on paper and had no real business activities.
The accused reportedly built a chain of such shell companies. Invoices were passed from one company to another within this network. In the end, some companies used these fake invoices to claim tax benefits even though no real business deal had taken place.
Authorities also noticed suspicious money transfers in bank accounts linked to these firms. They are now checking bank records and digital transactions to track where the money went and who else was involved.
Officials said this case is part of a larger nationwide drive against GST fraud. Apart from this, authorities have recently uncovered many similar scams involving substantial sums of money throughout the country.
Experts say such fraud causes huge losses to the government and hurts honest businesses. Fake tax credits give unfair advantages and damage the trust and fairness of the tax system.
The arrested director is currently being interrogated. Authorities believe more people may be involved, and further arrests could happen as the investigation continues.
