At the outset, we would like to place on record our sincere appreciation to your good office and the central government and state governments for a comprehensive and robust response to the raging COVID-19 Pandemic.
The Gujarat Sales Tax Bar Association (for short “GSTBA”) is one of the largest and biggest professional associations of Tax Practitioners, Advocates, and Chartered Accountants of the state of Gujarat practicing in Indirect Taxation. The Association has been functioning for the last more than 60 years and has a membership of over 2000 individuals and about 20 Tax Bar Associations (associates members) located all over Gujarat and the country. The total strength of Direct & Indirect members is comprising of more than 5000 members. The GSTBA is working as a bridge between taxpayers/tax professionals and tax administration.
The spread of the COVID-19 Virus has impacted adversely the normal working in the country. Unfortunately, the ferocity of the Corona Virus has not abated and is spreading and increased cases in various parts of the country. The government has been very kind to recognize the difficulties and hardships being faced by the taxpayers and has extended various due dates from time to time to reduce the difficulties and hardship of the taxpayers.
We are writing this letter to your good selves to extend the due date for submission of Annual Return (GSTR-9 & 9A) and reconciliation statement – GST Audit Report (GSTR-9C) for F.Y. 2019-20 from 31/12/2020 to 30/06/2021 due to the following reasons:
1. Issues arising due to COVID-19 pandemic
2. Delay in the availability of online utility (released on 10th December 2020)
3. Lot of compliances to be made by the taxpayer under Direct & Indirect Taxation in the month of December – 2020.
The GSTBA shall, therefore, be most grateful if the due date of filing of the Annual Return (GSTR – 9 & 9A) and reconciliation statement – GST Audit (GSTR-9C) tax audit report of F.Y. 2019-20 is extended by 6 months i.e. from 31/12/2020 to 30/06/2021.
We would be grateful if your good selves would take early action in this regard. Positive consideration of our request is highly solicited. This will be very useful for the taxation fraternity and trade and industry as well. A suitable order/direction of extension may please be issued to this effect at the earliest.
Thanking You,
Yours faithfully,
For, The Gujarat Sales Tax Bar Association
