Fake Raid: 3 Maharashtra GST Officials involved dismissed through Newspaper Ad The state goods and services tax department, overseen by senior bureaucrat Rajeev Mittal, fired three GST officials on Tuesday after it was revealed that they were involved in a fake raid and decamped Rs.11 lakh from a major trader. It was the first time in the state administration's history that an advertisement was made to announce the firing of errant officials. Mittal confirmed that the three were fired with immediate effect after completing the complete administrative and legal procedure. "The police investigation into the three inspectors will continue; on our side, we initiated a departmental investigation against them, issued a show cause notice to them, and after hearing their contention, it was decided to dismiss them to protect the department's image," Mittal added.
