The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has directed income tax officers to speed up ITR filing and refund processing while concentrating on resolving taxpayers’ complaints. Speaking to the tax officials, the finance minister stated that direct tax collections have surpassed indirect tax collections. Equity has risen as a result of this. For the Income Tax Department, he urged developing three “R” plans.

According to Nirmala Sitharaman, those who can pay more taxes are shouldering the cost. Small everyday products shouldn’t be subject to taxes. The fear of officials has decreased, according to her, as a result of the use of technology and faceless assessment, and taxpayers are starting to understand that taxes are being collected efficiently. The tax authorities were tasked by the finance minister with evaluating and processing the returns in a “systematic” and efficient manner without wasting any time.

What is Triple ‘R’?

The 3R stands for Return, Refund, and Redressal of Grievance, also known as Speedy Processing of Return, Speedy Refund, and Redressal of Grievance. According to the finance minister, this action would further boost consumer confidence, and they won’t see filing taxes as a hardship.

Need to Change the image of Income Tax Department

She expressed appreciation for the department’s efforts in issuing refunds and claimed that more effective refund disposal would alter public perceptions of the IT department. Sitharaman requested that the Income Tax Department use a method to refer complex situations to court in relation to the resolution of grievances.

The Finance Minister stated that in order to let people know that you are making an effort in this direction, the CBDT may need to meet for a week once a year. Even then, not much may change, but it will be a huge comfort for those whose complaints have been heard.

Vacancies will be filled in banks soon

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday called upon public sector banks to increase the coverage of Scheduled Castes (SC) in all schemes. In a meeting with the heads and officials of public sector banks, the Finance Minister urged the banks to fill up all the backlog vacancies at the earliest and in a time bound manner.
