GATE 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, the nodal institute for organizing the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)-2025 for admission to postgraduate engineering degrees, has released the examination schedule.

GATE 2025 will take place on February 1st, 2nd, 15th, and 16th of 2025, according to a press statement from IIT Roorkee posted on the exam’s official website (gate2025.iitr.ac.in). On all these days, the examinations will take place in two shifts: afternoon and forenoon. Two shifts are scheduled: the afternoon shift will start at 2:30 pm and end at 5:30 pm, and the morning shift will start at 9:30 am and end at 12:30 pm.

Candidates should be aware that the GATE 2025 application registration window will open from IIT Roorkee, probably by the end of August 2024.

Applicants should be aware that they may only complete ONE application. They can add the appropriate paper to their first application if they want to be included in the second paper (of the two-paper combo). If more than one application is submitted, only one will be accepted; the other applications will be returned unpaid.

The examination for GATE 2025 will be computer-based (CBT). The list of cities where GATE will take place has also been released. Eight zones comprise these cities.

Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2025:

As per the notification, candidates who have finished any degree program in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities that has been approved by the government or who are enrolled in 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate program are eligible to take the GATE 2025 exam.

The IIT-Roorkee announcement states that there will be thirty exam papers for GATE 2025. Exam papers will be given in English, and applicants may select one or two from a list of acceptable combinations. The exam will take three hours, and GATE results are good for three years from the day the results are made public.

Marking Scheme for GATE 2025:

The Marking Scheme for GATE 2025 is given below:

  • There are two marks available for questions.
  • Negative Marking: An MCQ will have a negative marking if the incorrect answer is selected.
  • If an answer to a multiple-choice question (MCQ) is incorrect, one-third of the mark will be taken away.
  • If an answer on a two-mark multiple-choice question is incorrect, two-thirds of a mark will be taken away.
  • Incorrect responses to MCQ or NAT questions do not result in a failing grade.
  • Partial marking is absent from MCQ.
