Good News for Central Govt. Employees: Cabinet Announced benefits for Employees and pensioners w.e.f January 1st 2022

Today, central personnel received exciting news from the government. Today’s cabinet meeting approved a 3% increase in the dearness allowance. Arrears for January and February 2022 will be available at the same time. The new dearness allowance will take effect on January 1, 2022.

Central staff presently receive 31% DA. It has been raised by 3% to 34 percent. More than 50 lakh government employees and 65 lakh pensioners will gain from this move.

How much will the DA boost the minimum wage?

If you calculate the arrears based on the minimal basic wage of Rs.18,000, your salary will rise by Rs.540. Currently, the employee receives a DA of Rs.5,580, which is a 31 percent DA. Now, if you add 3% more to it, you will get Rs.6,120. This means that employees’ salaries will rise by Rs.540. The arrears for two months will be roughly Rs.1,080.

What is the definition of Dearness Allowance (DA)?

Dearness allowance is a perk of the job. It is a predetermined percentage of the employee’s basic compensation. The government provides dearness allowance to its employees in order to mitigate the effects of inflation in the country. It is periodically extended. This also applies to retired personnel.

How will your compensation change as a result of DA?

Fill in your salary in the formula below:

(Basic Pay + Grade Pay) × DA % = DA Amount

Simply said, the rate of dearness allowance is multiplied in that salary after adding the grade compensation to the basic income. Dearness Allowance is the outcome (DA).

Let us illustrate this with an example. Assume your base salary is 10,000 rupees and your grade pay is 1000 rupees. When both were added together, the amount came to 11 thousand rupees. Now in terms of increased dearness allowance by 34%, then it is Rs.3,740. Your total salary after summing everything up was Rs.14,740. Previously, you received a salary of Rs.14,410 plus 31 percent DA. By increasing the DA from 31% to 34%, there is now a monthly profit of Rs.330.
