Government Issues New Rules on Working Hours for Underground Mine Workers
The Ministry of Labour and Employment recently issued a notification on May 13, 2026, regarding working hours for the persons employed in the below-ground work of the mine.
Using the powers given under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, the Central Government has decided that workers engaged in below-ground mining work cannot be made to work for more than eight hours in one shift in a day.
