Government Notifies Officers Empowered to Access Employer Balance Sheets under Wage Code

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has notified officers under Section 31(3) of the Code on Wages, 2019, empowering them to seek employer balance sheets within defined jurisdictions.

Government Notifies Officers Empowered to Access Employer Balance Sheets under Wage Code Recently, the Ministry of Labour and Employment issued a notification on May 12, 2026, regarding the appointment of authorities under section 31(3) of the Code on Wages, 2019.

Under section 31(3) of the Code on Wages, 2019, the Central Government has used its powers to appoint certain officers as authorities who can ask employers to produce their balance sheets. This new notification replaces the earlier notification issued on 30th September 2014. However, any actions already taken under the old notification will remain valid.

The appointed officers will have authority over establishments for which the central government is the appropriate government. Each officer will exercise this power within the jurisdictional area mentioned against their name in the table:
