Govt Notifies 1 August 2025 for Retirement of Members Under Amended Central Excise Settlement Commission Rules The Ministry of Finance recently issued a notification dated August 1, 2015, to amend the Customs and Central Excise Settlement Commission (Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Member) Rules, 2015. The main purpose of this is to revise provisions concerning the tenure and termination of officials appointed to key positions within the Commission.

What's New in Rule 7?

New proviso after the second proviso in Rule 7 of the 2015 Rules is the Major change introduced by the amendment. Under New provision, if any individual is appointed as Chairman, vice-Chairman or Member of the Settlement commission and holding office instantly before a date notified by the Central Government will cease to hold office from the date.
