The Government of India is set to launch a New RuPay payment sticker using NFC. A silicon sticker powered by RuPay and utilizing near-field communication (NFC) technology is scheduled to be launched. This sticker may be applied to any solid surface and does not require internet or power. It is also waterproof.

One can now pay with a simple silicon sticker in metros across the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, and Bengaluru, as well as bus services such as BEST in Mumbai, Haryana Roadways, Assam ASTC, and many more. This NFC-enabled sticker does not require a battery, charge, electricity, or internet and it is also waterproof.

A person can pay up to Rs.2,000 without a PIN and reload money onto this sticker with the official app or any NCMC terminal, such as those found at Delhi and other metro recharge counters. This is due to the fact that the backend technology of this NFC sticker uses the RuPay network, and because it is NCMC-enabled, it can operate on any National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) compliant metro and bus networks throughout the country.

A person must download the NeoZap app, sign up, and meet the KYC criteria. Once that is completed, you will be issued a platinum RuPay prepaid card, which you may then attach to the NFC sticker. Once the sticker and card are linked, you can use it to make payments. It should be noted, however, that this NFC sticker can only be used to make payments at NFC-enabled payment (contactless) terminals.

The sticker currently costs Rs.499, but its MRP is Rs.999. This sticker is available for pre-order on the NeoFinity website, and delivery will begin later.

This NFC sticker does not require your phone’s hardware or electricity, and it does not have a battery. According to Sudhindra Magadi, CTO of Wibmo, a PayU company, an NFC reader initiates communication by generating an electromagnetic field.

This creates a little electric current in the passive NFC tag/sticker, which powers the circuit. The tag/sticker then sends data back to the reader via a radio frequency signal (RFID). Since the NFC reader’s field powers the tag and data transfer is passive, the NFC tag/sticker does not require a battery or an internet connection.

Near Field Communication (NFC) technology has been in use for many decades, mostly in the defence and associated industries. However, the deployment of technology in the business and consumer sectors has been popular for over 15 years.

NFC became popular since it does not require power or internet access. It uses wireless communication protocols between devices with a range of 4 to 10 cm.
