GST Assistant Commissioner arrested by CBI in Rs 5 lakh Bribery Case According to the press release released by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), an Assistant Commissioner posted in CGST, Ratlam, has been arrested in a bribery case. The CBI registered an instant case on March 31, 2026, against the accused Assistant Commissioner and a private person on the allegations that the accused demanded a bribe amounting to Rs 5 lakh through an intermediary, a private person, in return for not commencing GST proceedings against the complainant’s firm.

During the investigation, the CBI laid a trap to catch the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 1.5 lakh through an intermediary. Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused following the arrest, and a scrutiny into the case is ongoing.
