Jubilant Ingrevia to Challenge Rs 2.03 Crore GST Demand Before GSTAT
Jubilant Ingrevia Limited has informed the stock exchanges (BSE and NSE) that the Additional Commissioner of State Tax, Moradabad, has issued an order dated May 4, 2026, imposing GST Demand and Penalty amounting to Rs 2.03 crore for Financial Year 2017-18 on the grounds of alleged wrongful transitional ITC claimed by the company, which was found to be a violation of the provisions of Section 16 of the GST Act.
Through the said order, the tax authorities have confirmed a tax demand of Rs 10,184,776, along with the tax amount, an equal penalty of Rs 10,184,776. Interest will also be applicable as per the rules.
Company’s Response and Legal Action
The company has deeply analysed the order and has clarified that it does not agree with the tax authorities findings and plans to challenge them through legal process. Management is convinced that the company has a very strong case legally and that it will be able to make its case based on the merits. The company has already begun the process of appealing this decision to the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT).
Financial and Operational Impact
It has been confirmed by the company that this particular order will not affect its operations or finances in any significant manner. The company maintains its usual operations while this issue is under review legally.
