GST Council Meeting delayed; likely to be held by Feb End
It is anticipated that the 49th GST Council, which is presided over by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and is made up of state counterparts, will be rescheduled, with the meeting most likely to take place by the end of the month.
Due to the hectic schedules of all parties concerned, the meeting is probably going to be rescheduled, a government official stated.
The meeting was slated on February 18 in New Delhi.
The Group of Ministers (GoM) report recommending the imposition of GST on online gambling, casinos, and horse racing is on the Council's agenda. The GoM is presided over by Conrad Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya. According to sources, the GoM has not been able to agree on the tax policies for these industries.
The 48th GST Council was supposed to take up this GoM report for consideration in December.
