The State Goods and Services Tax (GST) department conducted searches last week on enterprises in Indore and Bhopal, revealing tax fraud by up to five firms.

The SGST department conducted raids on two tobacco factories in Bhopal, and the firms paid the tax department Rs. 1.5 crore. A chemical business, an electrical firm, a logistics company, and a pump manufacturer were all searched in Indore.

The transport company, which primarily supplies minerals, has deposited Rs. 2 crore with the government after investigating officers discovered a discrepancy between the invoices and supplies.

SGST Additional Commissioner Rajani Singh stated, “Our teams conducted raids at various establishments in Indore and Bhopal during the last week, and operations at the majority of them were completed. There were inconsistencies and mismatches in input and output, supplies, documentation, invoices, and stocks. Some corporations have accepted the disparities and paid the penalty on the spot.”

“Two tobacco enterprises in Bhopal have deposited Rs. 1.5 crore, while the transport unit has placed Rs. 2 crore. We have imposed a Rs. 3 crore penalty on Indore-based pump manufacturers,” Singh added.
