GST Enforcement Wing of Chhattisgarh cracks down on Tax Evasion

The GST enforcement wing of Chhattisgarh conducted raids on enterprises in the Urla and Siltara areas.

During the wing’s surprise inspection, three iron and steel product producers, Shyam Steel Industries, Ishwar Ispat, and Ishwar TMT, were found guilty of avoiding GST totalling Rs 6.75 crore.

The entire amount of GST evasion is projected to exceed what was discovered during the initial investigation. These firms paid the government Rs 4.75 crore in GST on the spot. These companies were buying raw scrap to produce bars while evading GST.

The GST enforcement wing in Chhattisgarh is continuously monitoring and responding to reports of tax avoidance. For a long period, the wing has been watching these enterprises for GST evasion using scrap.

The department deployed advanced IT technologies and took action based on information received from an inspection of e-way bills and information collected in the field.
