GST Evasion: Immigration Companies in Chandigarh under scrutiny Six teams from the GST Department recently raided many immigrant firms in the city on suspicion of tax evasion. Under the direction of Pardeep Rawal, ETO, the teams, led by Jagdeep Sehgal, AETC, analysed GST returns, business models, previous filings, and portal-based data, as well as conducted on-site visits, to acquire essential details. The UT Administration reported that the examinations uncovered significant evidence, including enrollment forms, rent agreements, pen drives, mobile phones, computers, loose documents, dairy notes, and registers. This operation included notable organisations such as Canvisa Worldwide, CV Immigration, Akal Overseas Consultancy, and Future Developers, Sector 34. The effort followed the previous week's investigation of Dhagey Creations, Sector 38, which revealed that the taxpayer was operating under the composition scheme rather than regular GST registration. The department's steps are intended to close GST revenue loopholes and ensure businesses follow tax regulations, according to officials.
