GST Intelligence arrests Scrap Dealer for Tax Evasion The Directorate General of GST Intelligence detained a scrap dealer from the city for selling products without an invoice and claiming input tax credit without supplying items, resulting in a 16.7 crore loss to the government exchequer. Officials from the directorate conducted searches in Coimbatore aimed at scrap traders. Various documents were confiscated during the search. A follow-up search in Kerala yielded the identification of three non-existent entities from which invoices totaling 34.44 crore were issued. The proprietor of a plant in Madukkarai, Coimbatore, received 6.2 crore in input tax credit. The officials also discovered records of the supply of scrap worth 58.5 crore without invoices, resulting in a 10.5 crore tax evasion.
