A GST official was detained in Thane city for allegedly asking and taking a bribe on 30th Oct, 2023 , according to a Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau official.
Madhukar Dhok, 57 years old, has sought Rs.20,000 from a person in connection with alleged deficiencies in a GST application and was caught in an ACB trap while taking the bribe of Rs.7,000.
According to the source, he has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act and a case has been launched at the Naupada police station.
In addition, the Central Vigilance Commission conducts Vigilance Awareness Week from October 30 to November 5, during which programmes to combat corruption are organised.
