The Anti-Corruption Bureau detained a GST Bhavan tax inspector for requesting and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from a vendor.
The deputy superintendent of police, Sardar Nale stated that the inspector, Vishal Babu Hapate, threatened him with a large fine for failing to pay the Goods and Services Tax on time. The officer demanded Rs 10,000 from the victim in order to escape the penalty.
"We arrested Hapate. We set the trap after validating the complaint and captured the tax inspector red-handed," Nale continued.
