GST Official caught accepting bribe by vigilance department: Know details
In a first-of-its-kind event, a central government employee working for the GST Wing was detained by the Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday while taking a Rs 1 lakh bribe from a government contractor in Kalpetta, Wayanad.
The accounts of a government contractor for the fiscal year 2018–19 were examined by Pravinder Singh, a GST employee, who allegedly discovered a difference in the returns the contractor had submitted.
Because the contractor only had Rs. 1 lakh, Singh was detained as the money was being delivered in his vehicle, according to a VACB officer. The official had requested Rs. 3 lahks from the contractor in order to complete his file.
