GST Raid in Shamli: Sudden GST Crackdown on Shamli Textile Trader Creates Buzz in Naya Bazaar On Friday afternoon, the Saharanpur GST department raided a textile merchant's establishment in Shamli. The raid took place in the Naya Bazaar area under the Sadar Kotwali area. According to the reports, the incident took place so instantly that the team of the GST department reached the location (Mittal Sons) on three vehicles. Keeping in mind security measures, the local police were also present with the officials of the GST department at the location. Not wasting a single minute, the officials directly entered the shop. The police immediately placed a cordon outside the shop, just to make people aware that the shop is under investigation and no one is allowed to enter the shop.

Thereafter, the GST department began a deep inspection of the merchant's GST returns, billing records, stock, payment receipts, and other tax-related documents of the past few months. All documents present in the shop were confiscated by the department, and deeply inspected the computer system and record room. It was said that the investigation is mainly looking into irregularities like hidden sales, tax evasion, and making fake bills. First, the team is checking if there are any mismatches between the merchant's declared sales and actual turnover.
