Business organisations are gathering in Bareilly to oppose the GST survey on one side, while on other the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Special Investigation Branch (SIB) has begun searches. On Wednesday, the crew arrived to Gala Agencies’ crockery showroom in Prem Nagar. The inquiry lasted until late at night. The news of the incident caused fear among the merchants.

The team reached the showroom at 5 o’clock in the evening and after taking out the people present in the premises, closed the gates and took possession of the premises. Due to the danger of riots and demonstrations, police officers stayed on the scene. According to the information, the team obtained the bills and documents related to horse trading.

On learning about the raid, the Metropolitan President of Traders Security Forum, Ramkrishna Shukla, arrived at eight o’clock at night with the office bearers. He alluded to the assurances provided by the officers in the memorandum filed earlier that day. Despite the approximately 30-minute deliberation, the raid operation resumed.

Traders pulled down shutters of shops

In the end, the team sent them back after asking them to investigate for some more time. The news of the raid operation caused fear among the dealers. Shop shutters began to collapse. The officials refused to provide any information until the processes were completed. However, according to the need, on Thursday there was also rumours of a probe into additional Gala Agencies companies.

Six teams started investigation together

According to reports, GST’s SIB launched a raid operation with six teams in anticipation of tax evasion. Explored the data of computer etc. Also inquired about the three-storey godown and also searched the documents related to it. The team departed late at night, carrying the hard drive, CPU, and other accounts.

People doing business as per rules should not panic

GST Additional Commissioner Grade-1 VD Shukla says that raids on tax evasion will continue. The traders who are doing business according to the rules need not worry at all. The raids have been carried out on the basis of the suspect list received by the intelligence teams. At the same time, some traders have also put up fake documents during GST registration in the beginning. The verification of their valid documents will be done by a separate team.
