GST Registration: Pilot Scheme for Risk-Based Biometric Aadhaar Authentication in 2 States
The 50th meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council was held under the chairpersonship of Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman. Various important major recommendations and changes were announced by the finance minister to enhance the taxation system.
The GST Council meet announced that, a pilot programme for risk-based biometric-based Aadhaar authentication of registration applicants will be launched in the U.T. of Puducherry.
Furthermore, the state of Andhra Pradesh has also stated its desire to participate in this pilot when the system's preparedness is tested in the states of Gujarat and Puducherry.
