I-T Dept Thanks Taxpayers for Reaching 6 Crore ITR Milestone, Launches 24x7 Helpdesk for Easy Compliance The Income Tax Department has recently shared a post on platform 'X', where it announced that, as of now, around 6 Crore (60 million) taxpayers have successfully filed their Income Tax Returns (ITRs), hence showing its gratitude to all taxpayers and tax professionals for reaching the landmark and the number is still increasing as more people continue to file their ITRs.
CA Highlights Portal Glitches, Urges Tax Dept to Extend ITR and TAR Due Date Beyond September 15
To further facilitate the return filing, tax payment and other tax-related services, the department has started running a helpdesk that works 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. This helpdesk is designed to help taxpayers solve their issues or doubts. This helpdesk provides support in several ways:
  • Phone calls: People can directly call and get help.
  • Live chat: Taxpayers can use an online chat service to ask questions.
  • WebEx sessions: These are online video/meeting sessions where officials explain and guide people.
  • Twitter/Platform X: Support is also being provided on social media platforms for quick responses.
ITR Due Date Extended? Has Govt Extended ITR Filing Deadline
At the end of the message, it requested all the taxpayers who are still due to file ITRs for the assessment year 2025-26 (financial year 2024-25) to immediately file their returns to avoid last-minute hustle (like website slowdowns, errors, or missed deadlines) as the due date is just around the corner.
