ICAI notifies Extension of Deadline of MEF Submission for FY 2024-25

In an important move for CA members, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has extended the deadline for submitting the Multipurpose Empanelment Form (MEF) for the financial year 2024-25. The new deadline has been shifted to 25th October 2024 from 7th October 2024.

This decision was announced by the Professional Development Committee (PDC) on October 3, 2024, following the recent extension of the tax audit filing deadline.

The Institute is in receipt of representations from applicants who could not submit the MEF 2024-25 due to various reasons. Accordingly, it has been decided to give the last opportunity to members to submit the MEF application for the year 2024-25 upto 25th October 2024.

The extension intends to provide members more time to conclude the MEF procedure during the tax audit season. The ICAI highlighted that this is the final extension, as the PDC must submit the Branch Auditors’ Panel to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) within a specific time frame.

The Professional Development Committee (PDC) is pleased to host the Multipurpose Empanelment Form (MEF) for the year 2024-25, which is available on the MEF website. Before filling out the Multipurpose Empanelment Form (MEF) for the year 2024-25, Members are advised to go through the Advisory. Information provided through MEF is shared by ICAI with RBI, NABARD and other authorities for the purpose of empanelment for professional work.

Eligibility Criteria for filing MEF 2024-25

1. Partnership/LLP Firms which are in existence as of 1st July 2024.

OR

2. Proprietary Firms which are in existence as on 1st July 2024.

OR

3. Member holding Full-time Certificate of Practice as on 1st July 2024 and practising in individual name.

Registration/ Login Credentials

• Applicants who have already registered for MEF in the previous year(s) may login straight to MEF 2024-25 using the credentials from that year. If you have forgotten your password, please go to the “Forgot Password” option to retrieve it.
• First-time applicants must register for MEF 2024-25.
• If the applicant is successfully registered but is still unable to login, the applicant must check that the above-mentioned eligibility criteria for MEF 2024-25 are met.

Members are asked to check the correctness of this information. Please keep in mind that various panels that are required by various authorities, such as the RBI and NABARD, are drawn from MEF in accordance with their particular norms. Members are recommended to double-check and verify the data. Please Note that once submitted, the MEF cannot be edited.

The last date for submission of the MEF 2024-25 is 25th October 2024.
