ICAI Releases Handbook on Foreign Tax Credit Mechanism and Interplay with Domestic Tax Laws
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) recently released a handbook on "Foreign Tax Credit Mechanism and Interplay with Domestic Tax Laws".
The handbook explains the challenges of double taxation across different countries and focuses on how foreign tax credits (FTCs) help reduce this problem. It also covers the basic principles of international taxation, describes the main methods used to prevent income from being taxed twice, and discusses ongoing debates around FTC rules.
This handbook is divided into seven sections, starting from outbound investments from India, the Domestic Process of FTC, International Approaches for Elimination of Double Taxation, Methods of Eliminating Double Taxation, Methodology of Study and others.
