A combined team of the railway protection force (RPF) and the income tax department confiscated 1.75 kilogrammes of gold from two passengers at Jabalpur train station.
The gold, worth around Rs 1.25 crore, was taken from the possession of two suspects. Faiz Ahmed and Jameel Ahmed, both Jabalpur residents, have been identified as the two passengers. According to sources, teams from the income tax department visited the RPF police station and were briefed on the situation. Based on the information provided, RPF and income tax officials apprehended two people on the Shakti Punj express's B 2 platform.
The accused stated that they carried the gold from Howrah in the same train. Both were turned over to the income tax department's revenue team for further action.
