Income Tax Department conducts search operation at Chennai firms Income tax officers from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana conducted searches in a few enterprises in the city and surrounding areas on Tuesday. The offices of Refex Energy in T Nagar, Sri City Real Estate in Mylapore, and another firm in Thiruporur have all been searched since Tuesday morning. IT officials from Andhra Pradesh arrived in Chennai to conduct searches in connection with large-scale tax evasion, and Chennai sleuths assisted them. In another case, the Income Tax Officials uncovered tax evasion by a cafe in Gokul enclave. The cafe's owner allegedly failed to file tax returns for the previous six months. Officials stated that they received a complaint under the state government's "Bill liao inaam pao" scheme. Taking quick action on the complaint, officials led by Deputy Commissioner of State Taxes (DCST) Randhir Kaur began an investigation that revealed tax evasion by the establishment.
