Income Tax Department released New FVUs and Return Preparation Utility for e-TDS/TCS Statements
TDS/TCS statements are issued quarterly. Quarterly statements for the financial year 2007-08 and onwards are now accepted in accordance with the Income Tax Department's requirements.
Income Tax Department has issued new file formats for the processing of TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) and TCS (Tax Collected at Source) statements.
Deductors/collectors must prepare e-TDS/TCS statements in these file formats using the Protean (formerly NSDL eGov) e-Gov. Return Preparation Utility, in-house software, or any other third-party software, and submit them to any of the TIN-FCs established by Protean (formerly NSDL eGov) e-Gov.
Protean (former NSDL eGov) e-Gov created software known as the e-TDS/TCS Return Preparation Utility (RPU), to make it easier to prepare e-TDS/TCS returns. This is a free, VB-based utility. Each form of statement can be prepared using separate utilities.
File Validation Utility (FVU)
This utility may validate e-TDS / e-TCS returns prepared for FY 2005-06 and subsequent years (Forms 24Q, 26Q, 27Q, and 27EQ).
A. FVU Version 8.6 for quarterly e-TDS/TCS statement pertaining to FY 2010-11 onwards
Key Features – File Validation Utility (FVU) version 8.6- To enable value in the column "Total deductions under section 16(ia)" for deductee records where choice in the field "Whether opting for taxation u/s 115BAC?" OR Whether opting out of taxation under Section 115BAC(1A) [Yes/No]" is selected as "No" in Annexure II of Form 24Q-Q4 statements.
- Effective April 19, 2024, this version of the FVU is applicable.
B. FVU Version 2.182 for quarterly e-TDS/TCS statement up to FY 2009-10
Key Features – File Validation Utility (FVU) version 2.182- Allowing value in the "Total deductions under section 16(ia)" column for records of deductees when there is a choice in the "Whether opting for taxation u/s 115BAC? Under Annexure II of Form 24Q-Q4 statements, "OR Whether opting out from taxation u/s 115BAC(1A) [Yes/No]" is selected as "No."
- With effect from April 19, 2024, this version of the FVU is in force.
A. e-TDS/TCS Return Preparation Utility Ver. 5.1 for Regular and Correction Statement(s) from FY 2007-08 onwards.
Key Features – Return Preparation Utility (RPU) version 5.1- If deductee records have an option under the field "Whether opting for taxation u/s 115BAC? ", then the value under "Total deductions under section 16(ia)" should be allowed. Annexure II of Form 24Q-Q4 statements has the option "No" for "OR Whether opting out from taxation u/s 115BAC(1A) [Yes/No]".
- Starting on April 19, 2024, this version of RPU will be in force.
