Income Tax Dept Sets Up 24-Hour Control Room to Monitor Election Spending in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry In an effort to closely watch the election expenditure, the Income Tax Investigation department for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has set up a 24-hour control room following the instructions from the Election Commission of India. With this new step, the money being spent during the upcoming Assembly elections in the state and the Union Territory can be monitored. The main aim is to stop the use of money to influence voters.

The investigation wing of the income tax department will now take strict action against the unaccounted money. The department said that it will identify and seize the unaccounted funds that are used to influence the voter's decision in Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry. In an official statement, the department said that its main role is to ensure fair and transparent elections by controlling the use of these unaccounted funds during the voting process. Therefore, as a part of this initiative, the Director-General has started a 24-hour control room. People can share complaints or information through a toll-free number, as well as via fax, email, and WhatsApp.

The department has urged the individuals to inform the department in case they have information regarding the storage, possession, or movement of huge amounts of cash, jewellery, or other valuables and free items.
