India stated at the United Nations on Thursday that North Korea’s missile launches violate the Security Council’s related resolutions. The region’s peace and security have been impacted, according to Ruchira Kamboj, India’s permanent representative to the UN, during a meeting.

“India demands that all pertinent UN Security Council decisions pertaining to North Korea be fully implemented. We further reaffirm that maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula is in our common interest, according to Kamboj.

This statement came from Ruchira Kamboj after the launch of multiple missiles towards south Korea and 2 of them landed close to the Northern Limit Line (NLL). The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in the Yellow Sea is extended by the NLL, a maritime demarcation line between the two Koreas.

After the missile launch, air raid alarms went out in Ulleungdo, forcing residents to take cover inside bunkers. In addition, it launched several missiles into the sea on Thursday, including an unsuccessful ICBM, and blasted 80 rounds of artillery overnight.

80 aircraft, including F-35A stealth fighters, were dispatched by South Korea in retaliation, and earlier this week on Wednesday, it fired three air-to-ground missiles into the sea north of the Northern Limit Line (NLL).

Additionally, the largest-ever war simulations, known as Vigilant Storm, are being held by the US and South Korea at the same time as the tensions on the Korean peninsula. These drills have been dubbed “needless provocation” by Pyongyang.

Kamboj made his comments on Friday at an open UN Security Council meeting. The US charged that China and Russia were giving North Korea “blanket immunity” from additional UN Security Council action.

Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US representative to the UN, claimed that China and Russia “bent over themselves” to defend North Korea and support Pyongyang’s ballistic missile tests.

“However, two members of this Council have provided the DPRK with unrestricted protection. It is shocking that a UN Member State would so blatantly violate the UN Charter, Security Council resolutions, and other international agreements. The Council’s utter silence on this matter is as reprehensible, according to Thomas-Greenfield, who was mentioned by CNN.

The US and other UN members, as well as Japan and South Korea, which are neighbors of North Korea, worry that Kim Jong Un, the alleged “Supreme Leader” of North Korea, may carry out the country’s seventh nuclear test shortly.
