ITR Due Date of 15th September Extended? Know More
The Income Tax Department of India has shared an important news on their official social media platform X (previously known as Twitter) regarding fake notices of Income tax return (ITR) extensions.
Income tax department shared that fake news is in circulation stating that the due date for filing ITR scheduled for July 31 and extended to September 15 has now been further extended to September 30, 2025.
However, Income tax department declared that the official deadline remains the same: September 15, 2025
Income Tax Department advised taxpayers to use the Income Tax Department’s 24x7 helpdesk, which provides support via calls, WebEx sessions, live chat and social media platform X. for any issues related to ITR filing or tax payments.
It's important for taxpayers not to get caught up in fake news. and should always cross-check announcements on the Income Tax Department's official website (www.incometaxindia.gov.in) and verified social media accounts. And should avoid being rushed by announcements with urgent deadlines or offers asking for immediate action.
A fake news is in circulation stating that the due of filing ITRs (originally due on 31.07.2025, and extended to 15.09.2025) has been further extended to 30.09.2025.
