1. At first, you have to visit the e-filing portal and login here.

2. Under the ‘e-file’ tab, you will find the ‘View filed returns’

3. Here all the details regarding your returns will show. For checking history and current status you need to click on ‘View details’.

4. Your refund details will be displayed here if they have been issued.

Get Ready for Partial Refunds and Issues

Your tax refund might not match your expectations. Let us know:

1. Partial Refund Adjustments: If you have outstanding taxes, the IRS might use part of your refund to pay them off. You’ll see the refund amount and date, but the status will read – ‘Processed and refund adjusted’.

2. Full Refund Adjustments: If tax debt is equal or more than refunded the IRS may use the whole refund to cover it. The status will then state – ‘Processed and full amount adjusted.’

3. Refund Problem: If the IRS disagree with to refund assertion, or cannot credit the bank account. The status will show the date and reason for the issue. For example, if your PAN isn’t linked to your Aadhaar, you’ll see a notice to finish this step after paying a Rs.1,000 fee under section 234H.

Finding the Reason for Failure

Your refund might not go through for several reasons. These are a few problems faced by taxpayers.

1. Bank Account Not Pre-Validated: Your refund won’t come if you haven’t pre-validated your bank account. Be sure to finish this step.

2. Name Doesn’t Match: Your refund could bounce back if the name on your bank account isn’t the same. It must match the name on your PAN.

3. Wrong IFSC Code or Closed Bank Account: Your refund process won’t work and leads to holdups if you put in the wrong IFSC code Or the bank account no longer exists. Do take action to correct this.
