Ministry of Labour and Employment Clarifies Applicability of Section 139 on Wage Threshold The Ministry of Labour and Employment recently issued a notification (No. S.O. 2343(E)) on May 8, 2026, regarding the applicability of Section 139 of the Code on Social Security, 2020 (36 of 2020) on job vacancies with monthly remuneration below Rs 11,000. Section 139 of the Code on Social Security deals with Reporting of vacancies to career centres.
Govt Notifies Final Code on Wages (Central) Rules, 2025: 17 Old Labour Rules Replaced
The Central Government stated that the provisions of Section 139 of the Code will not apply to job vacancies where the total monthly remuneration (as defined under the Code) is less than Rs 11,000.
